Dr. Jinnan Liu, NCTM, is originally from China. She earned her Ph.D. in Music Education and Piano Pedagogy from Louisiana State University, where she served as an instructor of record and was primarily responsible for teaching group piano classes and secondary applied piano. She also received a Master of Music in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Baylor University. Jinnan has held National Certification in Piano since 2021 and is a member of the Pi Kappa Lambda Music Honors Society.
Jinnan has been teaching private piano lessons since 2015 and group piano classes since 2019. She has taught students from around the world, and her students have received awards in both local and national piano competitions. She is also an active scholar, member, and presenter with the Music Teachers National Association, the National Conference on Keyboard Pedagogy, and the International Society for Music Education. She has presented at international, national, and local conferences, including NCKP, MTNA, ISME, and NAfME. She has published articles in the International Journal of Music Education and the NCKP 2025 Proceedings.
Jinnan is passionate about developing students’ interest in music and teaching piano to students of all ages. She is committed to creating a supportive, harmonious, and engaging learning environment. Her research interests include student learning effectiveness, student motivation, and the promotion of diverse music through teaching and digital media.
