Institute For The Creative Arts

The School of Music offers a Commercial Music program with three possible tracks for students to choose from. The program, for both vocal and instrumental students, is built upon studies in classical, jazz, and popular styles with emphasis in the commercial music styles of pop, rock, and 21st century musical trends. Options of study include performance, music technology, or music composition tracks.

All music students will take a core set of courses followed by selecting a track. The performance track will focus heavily on ensemble work in a variety of styles. Students will work in a recording studio at the Center for the music technology track, and explore audio in a MIDI based programming and build a portfolio of DAW based productions. The composition track explores commercial arranging and orchestration for small and large ensembles along with writing for video games, film and other commercial styles. The program prepares students for a college music program and a career in the commercial music industry.
